After another day at work, I took another long drive back home.
Down the Delaware expressway
Exiting at the tenth exit
Crossing the Tacony Bridge back into New Jersey…
I did this for two months every single day. The job itself was fun, the drive on the other hand was long, boring and exhausting. I needed to find ways to make it enjoyable so it won't be so miserable.
I tried dancing in my car on the way home, but it got awkward when other people stared into my window. I guess I'll save the embarrassment and find a different way to tackle this task.
Before leaving the job, I thought, what if I took a different route home. So I went on and typed my address into the GPS and selected the second route. It took me down Burlington Pike where I found “The Scenic Route”.
The Scenic Route was awesome. For the first time, I saw the Delaware River at its finest. The water was crystal blue. It’s its sides existed the most beautiful trees. The landscape was definitely Instagram worthy.
Delaware River at its finest
I had to pull over to grasp everything and get the full view. Down the road, there was an exit. In the exit, there was a row of parking. My curiosity led me into pulling into one of the parking spaces. I looked around and saw a pedestrian bridge that connect to the other side of the highway. On the other side of the highway, were woods that was calling me to explore it.
Being the explorer, I walked through the paths. The roads then split into three separate paths. I took a left, which led me to the edge of the Delaware River. I enjoyed the glimpse that I had, but had to head back to the car.
A little muddy by the river
The next day, I went back to venture off again to see where the path to the right would've taken me. I track through the dirt road for about ten minutes. Through the trees and shrubs was a clearing. I anxiously jogged to see what was beyond that clearing. I was awed by what was at the end of the path. Something so simple, yet so amazing to see up close. A set of railroad tracks.
No I don't think these are railroad tracks lol
I definitely had to head back the next day to see what the third path would lead me to. I trekked down the mysterious path and it might be the most exciting end result out of the three paths. It was a lake!! I exploded when I saw people swimming and hanging by the water. There were water slides, paddle boats and almost anything you can think of.
I showed a few friends of mind, and let’s just say we went back plenty of times.
What if I never changed up my everyday routine? I guess I would've never been able to see some of the beauties that existed in my own back yard. Being by the river, exploring the train tracks, and stumbling upon the lake wouldn’t have happened.
Trying new things is a must. You'll never know what you’ll experience. Sometimes good, other times not so good. But the point is that, you've experienced something new. I try to try something new every here and there. It can either be something small in my daily routine such as lunch or something on a larger scale such as taking the scenic route.
Staying opened minded could lead you to a life of adventures. Life is full of adventures, it’s just up to you to find it.
I love this blog post! I never really thought about switching up my drive either. Then one day coming back from a family vacation we decided to take the scenic route home. It added on like 2 extra hours and not all of us agreed to it but we went anyway. It truly was a beautiful drive and I saw so many exciting things that I would not have scene before.
